In the large foyer (called the "reception
hall" in the original drawings) all trim is white
oak, with white oak pocket doors and a seven foot
tall, white oak fireplace mantle. The living room
features cherry trim, including cherry pocket doors
and an eight foot, hand-carved, cherry mantle. The
dining room has a seven foot, red oak mantle and pocket
doors, and the den is heart pine throughout with a
shorter mantle. The house also contains a walk-up
attic and a large basement with a stone foundation.
All of the oak, including the flooring, mantles, and
oversized front door, is quarter-sawn. The oak front
door, forty-two inches wide, contains the original
leaded glass. Five of the six original, architectural
sketches have been preserved.
The overall condition is excellent.
The house is ready to move into. A highly efficient,
geothermal heating/air system was recently added and
insulation was blown into the attic. Storm windows
were placed over the windows, most of which contain
their original glass panes. There is an unattached
two car garage which is fully insulated. It also has
an attic.
