LINDGREN HOUSE John Lindgren, a native of Sweden, claimed a homestead in the Silver Palm area in 1903. Lindgren built this home in 1912 for his wife Augusta and their children Alvin, Carl, Emma and Alma. At the time of Lindgren’s death, he had cultivated an eighteen acre citrus grove. Much of the early South Dade citrus stock came from the Lindgren nursery. Alvin Lindgren became a local hero for inventing the scarifying plow.
